Yuyuan Lantern Festival 2025 at ICONSIAM

At long last, one of China’s most iconic landmarks makes its full-scale debut in Thailand with the spectacular Yuyuan Lantern Festival—a grand celebration of lantern artistry curated by ICONSIAM in collaboration with Shanghai Yuyuan Tourist Mart and Intersteps. This immersive art experience transforms every detail into a dazzling display of lanterns, light, shadow, and interactivity, honoring the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China.

The Yuyuan Lantern Festival 2025 at ICONSIAM unfolds under the concept “Spirit of Mountains and Seas”, inspired by the ancient Chinese text Shan Hai Jing (The Classic of Mountains and Seas). In celebration of the historic 50-year Thai–Chinese friendship, lanterns will illuminate the Chao Phraya River for a continuous 50 days—symbolizing the enduring light of friendship and serving as a bridge connecting hearts and cultures under the sentiment: “China and Thailand are one family.”

A key highlight is the design of the festival grounds, which reflect Eastern culture and lifestyles through the core theme of “Islands.” The riverside space is transformed into a dreamlike landscape of floating islands adorned in colorful lights. Each lantern installation represents a mythical island scattered across what is envisioned as the “Chao Phraya Isle of Wonders,” inviting visitors to explore and discover them one by one in an atmosphere of enchantment.

This collaboration embodies ICONSIAM’s ongoing commitment to being a Global Experiential Destination, creating world-class activities and unforgettable experiences that connect people from around the globe. It marks yet another milestone reinforcing ICONSIAM’s role as a true destination for immersive global experiences.

Beyond the lantern displays, the festival also features an array of cultural activities—including traditional performances, local markets, themed cultural weeks, and exhibitions of art and light. These experiences promote deep cultural and artistic exchange between the two nations through craftsmanship, cuisine, and creativity. The festival also offers a valuable platform for “China-Chic” brands to engage with Thai consumers, while showcasing the creative evolution of Chinese heritage to global audiences through modern interpretations of traditional arts.
